Threat to End PDP’s Dominance in Ekiti;Ex-Speaker Declares Aspiration

By Olakiitan Victor
Barely ten months after Mr. Ayodele Fayose assumed office as the Governor of Ekiti State, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has declared his governorship ambition for 2018, with a threat to end the governor’s dominance of Ekiti political space.
In actualising this, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, has unveiled his master plan for the development of the state tagged, ‘Ekiti Economic Recovery’, which would be the focal point in securing the party’s ticket to stand for election during the 2018 polls.
Bamisile who hosted various youth and student groups in his campaign headquarters weekend in readiness for the 2018 governorship race, boasted that the APC will recapture Ekiti in 2018 and end Fayose’s relevance in Ekiti politics.
He described the youths as occupying special place in his development agenda of any country, promising to give them priority should his dream becomes a reality. The governorship hopeful said the purpose of the meeting with the youth groups was based on the need to seek for active involvement of their groups in the actualisation of his ambition and also integrating their ideas in his Ekiti Recovery Blueprint.
Bamisile spoke extensively on his passion to ensure that the youth of the State are not only developed but also economically empowered when he assumes the esteemed office of the Governor of the State.
The ex-Speaker pledged to provide enabling environments for the youth by implementing his one-point agenda, Human Capital Development, in consonance with the Manifestoes of the APC and sustainable policies of the previous governments.
Speaking on behalf of the students the South-west Coordinator of NANS, Sunday Asefon, said the person of Bamisile is needed now to restore the integrity and honour that the State has missed.
“It is unfortunate that the Governor has portrayed the State as a poverty-betrothed one, with no plans for the youth in any of his cabinet or government, unlike the previous one.
“Even the ministry of Youth Development and Sports have been proscribed because it has little or no importance before the Governor”, Asefon said.
