The first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and the immediate past National Assembly member that represented Lagos West senatorial district, Senator Ganiyu Solomon have hailed the educational policies of Odi Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The LCDA initiated an educational programme and distributed 250 forms for General Certificate Examination (GCE) to indigent students as a way to encourage higher educational pursuit among people in the council area.
While reacting to the initiative, Jakande, who stated that education was one of his first principles as governor of the state, stressed that: “No investment in education is wasted”.
Solomon on his part, implored the students to take role models from the long list of people that have excelled in their various fields of endeavours.
“That you are in public school does not have to limit you. You are not limited by your environment. Nobody can limit you. Only you can limit yourself. Anyone of you can become a senator like me and even governor. Pick role models such as Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Brigadier-General Mobolaji Johnson, Dr. Muiz Banire, CEO of Centrespread, Mr. Kola Ayanwale and many others from Mushin who have reached the pinnacle of their carriers”, he said.
The executive secretary, Hon. Abdulrasaq Ajala, said the council embarked on the GCE form distribution as way to contribute to the education of the younger ones and to also assist parents to defray the cost of the important examination.
