NEMA:Reinforcement N233bn Northeast Marshall Plan

A call has been made for the reinforcement of emergency interventionist agencies in the country to prepare them for the task of reconstruction and rebuilding of the Northeast ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.
The sum of N233 billion is said to be needed both in the short term and in the long run to rebuild the troubled region affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Rising from a two-day engagement in Maiduguri, the stakeholders in the management of humanitarian crisis in the Boko Haram troubled North-East Nigeria, agreed that there is the need to strengthen the disaster management structure of key players managing humanitarian crisis in the region, among others.
The North-East Humanitarian Multi-Stakeholder Engagement (NEHMSE 2015) with the theme Coordination, Communication and Cooperation was held at the behest of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President and Borno State Government, with the aim of ensuring that activities of local and international humanitarian actors are well coordinated, monitored and evaluated, to avoid duplication of efforts and waste of resources.
