JOIN GSS GARKI ABUJA TO CELEBRATE 30TH ANNIVERSARY COME MAY 2017

As our alumni mater turns 30 in May 2017, the  Alumni  Association in conjunction  with the school are putting together a 3 -DAY event to mark this monumental achievement. Plans are in full gear all in a bid to ensure the 30th Anniversary becomes the talk of the town and a memorable Anniversary for all Alumnus, the School and FCT.

As a result, we are happy to introduce to you GSS Garki 30th Anniversary Organizing Committee. This committee was inaugurated on the 26th of November 2016 during our last Reunion Dinner held at Chelsea Hotel. The committee includes the following members and are saddled with the responsibility of Organizing the 30th Anniversary.

11).  Bobai Atta - 91 set MEMBER
12).  Toyin Ilori - 95 set MEMBER
13).  Bala Haruna - 94 set MEMBER

The committee is further divided into 5 Subcommittees.

1. Media & Publicity Committee 'Headed by Ochi Ogbuaku'

2. Logistics Committee 'Headed by the Chairman Ignatius Onyeador'

3. Entertainment Committee  'Headed by Joseph Anekwe'

4). Seminar & Career Talk Committee 'Headed by Nurudeen Garba     Gusau'
     
5). Contacts/Fund Raising Committee 'Headed by Babangida Hamisu'

The committee has since sprung into action and have met on several occasions with School management to deliberate on the Anniversary. Below is an outline of planned activities lined up to mark the Anniversary.

DAY ONE

Day one kicks off with a very colorful roadshow (with our GSS Garki branded T shirts and Face caps) along Moshood Abiola Road. (covering Area 1 to Conference Center and back to school premises). After which we will have free medical and dental assessment for students and staff by alumni doctors.

DAY TWO

Career  talk for SS2 and SS3 students and an evening Novelty Football Match between the Alumni and the  School Team.


DAY THREE

The week-long activities will culminate  in a  Banquet Dinner and Award/Recognition event. (Green Harvest/Talent Hunt)

Also, a  50 million  naira  endowment  fund, GSS  Garki Alumni Mentor-ship Programme will be launched and the 1st beneficiary will be announced.

Top most among the dignitaries expected to be in  attendance includes the following.

1. Minister of Education.
2. Minister of FCT
3. Minister of Information
4. Minister of Youth and Sports
5. Director, Education Board
6. Executive Secretary, Education Resource Center (ERC)
7. Permanent Secretaries of Various Ministries.
8. FCT Senator
9. Past Principals and Principals of other Schools
10.Teachers
11.School PTA

There is need for donations from different stakeholders and sponsors as there will be no dinner tickets for alumnus). All alumnus are expected to pay and purchase the anniversary T-shirt, details of payment will be forwarded.

The subcommittee assigned (Fund Raising) is working on a draft of how and where donations would be sourced.

The committee has also approved the following logo for the Anniversary. The Committee will also be happy to welcome your suggestions and contributions.
