Farmers embark innovations and technologies tour.
The tour kicked off in Berlin,
Germany with a welcome reception which also featured guest speaker Dr. Markus
Fahlbusch from University of Göttingen, Germany, entitled: “Outlook for Global
Dairy Markets”.
The Alltech Euro Tour showcased the innovations and technologies
being adopted in each country and provided a networking opportunity for farmers
to discuss and share ideas about the future of dairy production.
Starting in
Berlin, Germany, and finishing at Alltech’s European Bioscience Centre in
Dunboyne, Ireland, dairy farmers from across Europe, including France, the
Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Switzerland visited farms with herd sizes
ranging from 120 to 3,600 dairy cows.
The host farms were carefully selected
and included a farm in Germany that is developing its own brand of milk and a
French farm specialising in genetics. In addition to farm tours and
knowledge-sharing, participants on the Alltech Euro Tour also enjoyed a host of
social, cultural and sight-seeing delights at each stop on the tour.
“Alltech
is delighted to bring together this group on a farm tour with a difference!
We’re travelling over 2,500km in just four days to see seven contrasting farms,
each showcasing their own systems and approaches,” said Julien Martin, Regional
Director, North-West Europe, Alltech.
