Lithium Deposit In Germany Granted Bacanora Minerals 30 Year Licence.
Bacanora Minerals Ltd has been granted a mining licence for its Zinnwald joint venture in
Germany, putting it on track to have two lithium mines in operation.
Zinnwald covers 256.5 hectares in southern Saxony and borders a raft of car and downstream lithium chemical business.
The licence is for 30 years and has been issued by the Saxony State Mining Authority
A feasibility study is underway to demonstrate Zinnwald can produce higher value downstream lithium for battery and car use and is expected to be completed in mid-2019
Drilling so far has seen four of out of 15 planned infill drilling holes completed while bulk samples at the historic mine at the site have now been sent for testing.
Concentration and hydrometallurgical testwork will test to its suitability for higher value lithium battery chemical products.
Peter Secker, chief executive, said, "The issue of the mining licence is a key milestone for Zinnwald where various workstreams for the Feasibility Study are well advanced.
“In Zinnwald and Sonora, Bacanora has, in our view, two world class assets, which have the potential to provide significant supplies of lithium products.”
Sonora is a lithium deposit in Mexico where Bacanora expects a feasibility study to be completed this year.
At Zinnwald, Bacanora currently has a 50% stake with an option to acquire the remaining 50% of the project.
